A day with Red Hot Sal!!!!!

Not quite what you think!!

I spent last Thursday on a one to one tutorial day with Redhot Sal, AKA Sally Carver in her studio learning the basics of lampwork. She is a brilliant teacher and I learned a lot, all I have to do now is try and remember it all.
One of the outcomes of the day was that as soon as I got home that evening I was on the net ordering a kiln.... ...... in fact according to the online parcel tracking its now in Cambridge Parcelforce depot since 0500 Saturday morning sitting on a van ready for delivery. So hopefully I shall have it on Monday!

Saturday I had a quick dabble on the torch before doing some more work to sort out the shedio, but only managed one decent bead ..... a beach bead, (copy of one of Sal's Beachy design) one that Sally showed me how to make, although the silver ivory stringer I made and  used, seemed to fizz a lot , as you can see from the bubbles between the ivory and the blue! I don't think it was proper silver foil/leaf!

Spent a couple of hours today on the torch and after pulling a couple of stringers and some murrini! and having had a few failures managed a few plunge beads and tried a heart bead as well!

Heart within a heart ... almost!

Don't look at the shape..... off centre donut!

This is using effetre electric yellow which I managed to strike......!

Roll on tomorrow and hopefully they can be annealed properly
