More for the Larder

With 4 grapefruit sitting in the fruit bowl for a week uneaten, I decided to turn it into marmalade, and it turned out quite nice, even if I say so myself!

On checking the veg plot in the garden, I found the rhubarb had been overlooked for a while and was looking the worse for wear! A few sticks had gone a little stringy but there was a couple of pounds which was ok, so with the help of a packet of dried apricots, I have now got some Rhubard & Apricot Chutney for the winter!

A friend told us about some apple trees growing on the dissused railway  line, which is now a footpath, so payed it a visit!  I managed to get about 4.5 Kg mixed apples, variety "Various",  probably grew from discarded apple cores from when it was a working railway, pre Beeching railway cuts. Along with about 2 Kg of Elderberries, so will do something with those soon, in the meantime I have made some Orange and Apple Jelly with some of the Apples and 4 Oranges from the fruit bowl again!
