We have just returned (to temperatures of 30 deg) from a week in the Lake District, where the temperature was a pleasant 16-19 deg.
Oh to be back there!!
Stayed in a very nice cottage at the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake at Dubwath, back of the Lakeside Guest house.
Still, we had a great break, and managed to get in a couple of nice walks, A round Derwent water walk and a walk around Pooley Bridge.
On Monday we visited the Osprey view point at Dodd Wood, Bassenthwaite Lake side, saw Mum, and just a brief view of a chick (bigger than a turkey!!), put his head down when I took this photo! Dad was away fishing, probably at the other end of the lake as the south end is a bit too shallow at the moment(as are a lot of the lakes!!??) Fancy after all the floods in November 2009 and a drought now in the "wettest" part of the UK.
